Prairie, Morris, and Distinguished Scholars
The Prairie, Morris, and Distinguished Scholars Awards are competitive academic scholarships.
The Prairie Scholars Award is a full-tuition scholarship renewable for up to four years.
The Morris and Distinguished Scholars receive a stipend to be used on an academic enrichment opportunity. Morris Scholars will receive up to a $24,000 scholarship ($6,000 per year)—plus a one-time $2,500 scholarly stipend. Distiguished Scholars receive a one-time $1,500 stipend to apply to an academic enrichment opportunity. Both awards are dependent upon the recipient maintaining a 2.5 GPA.
There are a wide variety of ways that Scholars can use their awards while participating in academically enriching experiences. To use your Scholar stipend, please complete the Morris Scholar Stipend Request Form. The program coordinator will need to sign off on your form before the Office of Financial Aid can verify and disburse your stipend. Please stop into ACE for further assistance.
HOW HAVE PAST STUDENTS UTILIZED THEIR STIPENDS?
Some Morris students have used their stipend to study abroad in countries like India, Antarctica, or Belize. Others have used them to participate in and present research. Several students recently traveled to India to research women and economic development while others have used the stipend to fund travel to research conferences. Another student used their stipend for research in the writing of a novel. Still other students have used the stipend to fund internships in Washington, D.C.! The possibilities are endless!
